Privacy Policy
Kutscene is designed to make it clear when your video stays in your browser and when a selected feature uses Kutscene servers or a cloud AI provider.
Browser-local processing
- When you upload a file from your device and use the browser editor, trimming, clip preparation, local transcription/captions, and local MP4 export run in your browser using FFmpeg WASM and browser models.
- Free local exports stay free and download to your device. They are not uploaded to Kutscene unless you choose a cloud feature such as shareable export, server render, server-assisted import, cloud AI, or Pro sync.
Server-assisted import
- Direct owned-video links are tried in your browser first when the host allows it.
- If a host blocks browser access and you are signed in, server-assisted import can fetch the owned video link through Kutscene and stream it back to your browser. This path is not browser-local.
- Google Drive import is also server-assisted: Kutscene uses the access token you provide to check the file and stream the selected video to the editor. Import responses use no-store cache headers.
Free/sponsored Groq cloud AI
- Some Make Video helper steps can use free or Kutscene-sponsored Groq cloud AI for script writing, copywriting, or scene description when that option is shown.
- Groq cloud AI is not browser-local. Kutscene sends the prompts, transcript snippets, scene labels, and selected frames needed for the requested AI result.
Paid OpenAI/cloud AI
- Paid cloud AI features, including OpenAI transcription, OpenAI voiceover, B-roll, inpaint, upscale, translate, and lip-sync, send the inputs needed for that request to Kutscene servers and the configured cloud AI provider.
- These features are not browser-local and may reserve credits before processing. Failed paid requests refund reserved credits where the product flow says they do.
Server render and shareable exports
- Server render uploads the selected clips and export inputs required to render the MP4 on Kutscene servers. Use browser-local export when you do not want selected render inputs uploaded.
- Shareable exports upload the final export file to cloud storage so a link can be viewed or downloaded.
Pro sync
- Pro sync stores project metadata such as scene timings, captions, edit settings, project history, and thumbnails so you can restore work across devices.
- Source video files stay on your device unless you import them through a server-assisted path, upload a shareable export, queue a server render, or choose another cloud feature.
Retention
- Shareable exports: stored in cloud storage until expiry. Default is 7 days on Free. Pro exports default to 30 days and can be set to 7, 30, 90, or never. You can delete exports earlier from your dashboard.
- Server render inputs: stored temporarily to process your render job and removed shortly after completion, with periodic cleanup and storage lifecycle rules.
- Pro sync metadata: stored until you delete the project, unsync it, or delete your account.
- Diagnostics/support submissions: retained as needed to respond and improve reliability.
Deletion
You can delete exports, projects, and your account from the dashboard. If you need help removing a shared export (for example, you no longer have access to the account), contact support with the share URL.
Analytics
We aim to use privacy-respecting analytics (Plausible) and do not collect video content analytics.
Contact
If you have questions, contact the Kutscene team via the project repository or support email once configured.
